How much is Jets' C.J. Mosley's groin injury affecting him, and did playing make it worse?
EAST RUTHERFORD - The Jets have a lot to be worried about after Monday night's beatdown at the hands of the Patriots. And the health of star linebacker C.J. Mosley is near the top of the very long list.
Mosley returned against the Patriots after missing four games and more than a month because of a groin injury, but he never looked right in the 33-0 loss. Afterward, Mosley admitted the injury was still bothering him.
"I just played through it," Mosley said. "Just have to see how it feels [Tuesday] and go forward from there."
Mosley seemed to have trouble running at full speed and changing direction throughout the game. The best way to put it: he never looked like he was playing at full speed.
"I felt it, it felt like a pulled muscle," he said. "Just kind of affecting when I was cutting and things like that. But for the most part, I was trying to run as fast as I could, trying to play my normal style of football.
But Mosley did not look like the player we saw before the injury in Week 1. And the way he was talking after the game, it sounds like this is something that isn't going to completely go away.
"It's a groin injury and where it's at, it will affect every move that I make at my position," Mosley said. "Unless I don't play it all, that's the only way it's going to get better. So that's not really in my plans, not to play for the rest of the season."
The one positive: Mosley said the injury didn't seem to get any worse while he was on the field.
"If I would have aggravated it, I probably wouldn't have played," Mosley said. "Because I aggravated it the first game and I couldn't finish," Mosley said.
Mosley stayed in the game until the second half when he was pulled by the coaching staff.

Sam Darnold suffered a toe injury but didn't miss any snaps after limping off the field getting it taped up between drives in the third quarter. Darnold said that the issue is not serious.
"I just got stepped on," Darnold said. "Obviously those little things kind of add up, but I'll be fine. There's no need to worry about it."
Center Ryan Kalil suffered an elbow injury in the first half but returned after halftime only to injure again and be forced out of the game. He was replaced by Jonotthan Harrison. Right guard Brian Winters left the game in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury.Andy Vasquez is the Jets beat writer for NorthJersey.com.
