Soccer Saturday panelists talk NUFC
Here's how Sky's Soccer Saturday programme spoke about Newcastle United ahead of their trip to Chelsea.
Panelists spoke about the Magpies and Matty Longstaff.
I'm probably as guilty as anyone of saying Stevie Bruce is still one of the best managers.
It's a hard job to take, that's Steve's taken. But he's the guy that gave him his chance, Matty that pops up with the goal and he should get a pat on the back. It's a step in the right direction but it's still going to be a tough season.
It was one of the best debuts I've ever seen. He's no shrinking violet is he? I'm not just saying that because he scored, the number of things he did (was brilliant). And he didn't just take the easy way out, which a lot of younger players do. He was playing the ball forward as often as he could and closing down and doing the dirty work. He was fantastic, and the goal was brilliant.
What a two weeks he has had to relish, now he's got to get back to it. But for two brothers to play in the Premier League was just wonderful.
There was a little bit of Paul Scholes in him, the way he protected the ball and passed it. He was strong, he's a little interesting character. I'm not sure he'll get close to Scholes - if he gets half way there, he'll have had a hell of a career - but there were little signs.
He played with no fear. Now he's got to build on it because at Chelsea there'll be long periods without the ball, he'll have to be patient but for his family it is a dream.
